From San Francisco, we headed to South Lake Tahoe. What a drive! At points in the mountains, we were at 8,000ft! The low clouds and fog gave a eery feel to the surrounding forests, looked amazing!  obvioudly didn't do enough research as I didn't realise that the lake itself is at 6,000ft - though the winter skiing lodges there should have been a clue I suppose!
In the morning, we went for a walk by the lake to see the Tallac Historic Estate, to see the Salmon migrating upstream to reproduce and drove to Emerald Bay, where we walked down to a Scandinavian inspired house by the lakeside.
